Popular Science magazine in the US talks about chinese clones of the iPhone - work with multiple carriers and can run all sorts of software the iPhone can’t - in other words better than the original you know anything of this?

When they say that they can do anything the iPhone can, most of the times yes, most phones can do what the iPhone can. But it’s the way that the iPhone does these things that makes it so revolutionary. Most of these phones look like it but don’t work in the same way that iPhone does, such as it’s ability to do multi touch, and just with the iPhone being hacked so that you can use it on any carrier and installing apps are just the icing on the cake. There are some big flaws in the iPhone but if you remember that this is a 1.0 piece of hardware it’s pretty amazing.

about the iphone, I really wonder how apple and the european selected mobile phne provider will handle the “simlocking”, and in each country, the laws are different. then will we see unlocking softwares ? will the laws be followed (in France, unlocking is a right. You can unlock you phone for free after 6 month) ? How will the european phone regulatory commission think of this ?
