Hey hey
yup, I listen to episode 3 just after ep 2
Great episode, with your guest adam
I’ll in the chatroom next time, if I’m available and know you’ll be recording.
About torrnetspy, what they are doing in the USA is simply… ridiculous… I didn’t thought someone would do this. Because crap file is distributed using torrents, with legally software (like linux distributions for example, some video podcasts…), you can access legal files.
Let me do a parallel with something more obvious for people who don’t understand al this torrent thing.
- you have a lot of murder, rebboer, etc… using there car to go to the crime scene, and to leave it. They even use their car to transport their “treasure”. I’m wondering why the companies the governments outloaws the use of cars ??? after all, it’s really dangerous ! It transports bad people ! No ? We can go further…. why not outlawing the road ! No more road, speed ways, etc… This is by using these ways, just like torrent does , that gangsters and robberies are done ? !
My example surely makes you smile, but this is a very good image !
Another example…. Lots of people are using their phone and mobile phone to communicate. what do you this terrorist are using ? We have to shut off all the telephone communications, because bad people are communicating bad plan ! Telephone is use the wrong way, cut it off… Just like torrent !
Third example : Who does use GPS today… Planes for instance, super tanker…. but also, bad people…. yes…. It’s so true that M. Bush junior ask to switch off the GPS satellite, because it could be used in Irak…. yeaaaahhhh. I magine if this would have been done !
In conclusion, it’s not because you shutdown a way to communicate that the problem is resolved…. It’s the opposite, it’s worse
I’m still thinking of that pirate forced to use windows…. I’m still thinking if the judge will pay the license because the court is not able to give the right answer. humm….
Pownce vs twitter…
Well guys, I’m still expremienting before an article about microblogging. My point of view is :
- twitter is really a mess. As jonathan said, you can’t even build a discussion. And for me, this is exactly what twitter is done : say what you’re doing (but you don’t have to discuss). The experience is showing that people want to share, but also participate. A workaround of not being able to build a discussion is replying with @nickname…. But it’s a workaround, not a feature ! Another thing is when I had to “select” amicroblogging platform (twitter or jaiku), I simply can’t get a look at twitter. You need to subscribe to get a look in it :/ There no address book, no “just twitted” page, etc… I subscribed to jaiku because of these lacks, and because it look way better, and you could make friends when repleying to true discussion on the Jaiku Explore page.
- jaiku : a twitter with better features

- pownce : when I saw pownce, I ask on jaiku an invitation, and honestly I like the way it is running. I regret however the lack of different design and/or the lack of customization like in jaiku or twitter. About the feaute, I really don’t use all these, except the URL Link. Yesterday, new features arrived, and now, pownce gain som better favor
However, as Daniel said, it’s all about the group you know. The group of friend I’ve on jaiku and pownce are different. Ok, some friends are on booth of them. So I can discuss on different topic using Jaiku or Pownce. And pownce friend (stéphane) resumed nicely the big diference I also see between twitter and pownce :
“Y’a pas à dire, y’a bien plus de feedback sur Pownce que sur Twitter, peut-être parce que la communauté est plus petite, donc elle prend plus soin des autres et de ce qu’ils disent ?”
“Needless to say, there’re more feedback on Pownce than on Twitter, may be is it because the community is smaller, so it takes more care of the others and what they are saying ?”
Now, time for lunch
See ya !
