My Top Four Wordpress Plug-ins

My blog runs on the popular blog publishing platform Wordpress. One fof the great things about wordpress is that it is open source so many people are developing plug-ins that enhance the experince for your readers or you. I use mnay plug-ins on my blog, about fifteen, though most of them you never see. But anyway here are my favourite Wordpress Plug-ins:

Askimet -

I don’t care what sort of blog you have yu need Askimet. This plug-in is amazing at blocking spam comments that might be posted on your blog, so far on mine it has stopped nearly 500, yes I did type that correcdtly 500 spam comments and what is really cool about it is that it learns. So if I does miss one (though it has only missed a few spam comments for me) you can tell i that it is spam and it will learn.

You do need a wordpress.com account to get it to work but thats easy. I think the ten minutes of hassle that you get from setting it up saves you ten times as much time when deleting spam comments.

Flickr RSS -

As you can see on the left of blog, on the sidebar is my Flickr Pictures, I get thoses to pop up using the plug-in Flickr RSS. It is very easy to use and has lots of customisations that you can do, usch as the number of pictures to be shown, if they show a square, thumbnail or rectangle. You can also get it to change what photos you want it to show per page.

To get the plug-in up an running you have to go get a “code’ which will allow it to get the info it needs, it tells you how to do this and all you have to do really is go to a website and type in the URL

WP-Contact Form -

I find it a real pain when you wan to contact someones blog privately and you have to go hunting for their email address, so to iliviate my stresses on my own site I use the Contact From Plug-in. It’s supper easy to install and set up. All you have to do once you’ve got it installed it create a new page, I named mine “contact me” an d then go in to the code section of your WYSIWYG editor and put in and bit of text, and your done!

SRG Clean Archives -

I really wanted an archive page that was easy to navigate and use, Wordpress comes with one but I didn’t like it very much, but I did find one that I did like called SRG Clean Archive. As you can see if you go to my archive page, you select the month and in an AJAXy way the months post drop down, Pretty cool!
