Help Me Choose Some Speakers:
I really want to get a good set of speakers, the only problem is that I don’t know anything about them. So… I want your help in choosing some. Here are a few things that you should consider when helping me:
I’m not an audiophile, I can’t tell the difference between my brother’s in-ear headphones and my classic iPod earbuds. So I’m not looking for the best and though that I don’t want to spend a massive amount on money so around £100 ($200) mark is what I’ve been looking at.
I would like them to look pretty good, not butt ugly and perhaps have them look different, bear in mind that my setup is filled with blacks and silvers; so if you can try to do a bit of colour coordination.
The main things I’ll be hearing through the speakers are: podcasts and music and a few movies (played on my MacBook Pro).
Here are a few things to help you:
I live in the UK so it is no good you giving me links to US websites, and if you do the price may be under £100 there but it certainly won’t be with the inflation in the UK, so here are the two online stores I would consider ordering from - check that the speakers are there first before telling me about them.
The UK Apple Online Store
Amazon UK
And here are a couple of speakers that caught my eye:
Altec Lansing VS4121
Altec Lansing FX4021
What made me look at these especially? Striking design and I’ve heard that they produce a good sound. Do you agree?
Thank-you very much for helping me, if there are any other questions that you need to helping me shoot me an email or leave a comment and I’ll update this post with the info.

December 28th, 2007 at 4:34 pmAll I can say is : Altec Lansing is a very good license and proof of quality. Altec Lansing is well known in quality speakers for great music, and very good sound. They are not the best in music, but for conputers they are top. You can’t go wrong.
December 28th, 2007 at 10:58 pmI looked at the Altec Lansing too, but read too many mixed reviews to be completely confident in them. My old setup was a pair of Klipsch Pro 2.1s. My brother, who’s more into audio equipment than I am, got me these for christmas. They produce best desktop sound I’ve ever heard. Like home theater type sound. Plus they look great next my ACD
December 29th, 2007 at 7:05 amWhat about http://www.amazon.co.uk/Acoustic-Energy-AE26-06B-active-speaker/dp/B000MN96T6/ref=pd_sbs_ce?ie=UTF8&qid=1199140776&sr=8-1
For under £100 you probably won’t get much better than those. My friend has a set and they sound absolutely amazing!
If your looking for something a bit cheaper you couldn’t go wrong with something from Creative’s I-Trigue range (some of the higher priced models). Obviously not as good as the Acoustic Energy’s but for the money and just for itunes/ocasional movie they will be perfect. I have a set of Creative I-Trigue 3300’s and I’ve no complaints at all.
Good luck!
