Quick Tip: Buying Vista and Misconception

Do you have that one program that you need to run on Vista that you can’t go without? It seems a lot to pay the RRP doesn’t it? So why not buy an OEM - they are far cheaper and are exactly the same as the retail packages.

Here is a price comparisons:

Windows Vista Home Basic: RRP - £160 OEM - £52
Widows Vista Home Premium: RRP - £200 OEM - £60
Windows Vista Business: RRP - £222 OEM - £82
Windows Vista Ultimate: RRP - £344 OEM - £104

As you can see the price differences are quite dramatic. I found the best place to go is Amazon, they quite often offer discounts on top of the fact you are buying an OEM.

Some people say that Microsoft charges way too much for it’s operating system - well I disagree. If you’ve been running on Mac OS X since the beginning, you’ve probably dropped about £400 on all five versions while in the same time difference you could wait and then (if you go by the RRP) spend only £344 on one copy of Vista. That’s not bad, is it?

I just got a copy of Vista Premium (OEM if you were wondering) and I am going to be writing a guide for using Boot Camp and installing it onto your Mac - if you have to!
