Switching RSS Reader

I used to use NetNewsWire (NNW) as my RSS reader, it looked and felt good to use. The interface was clean and best of all it was free. But as of late NNW has been giving me a lot of grief, freezing on me all the time. This is not an exaggeration. I tried reinstalling several times and scouring the interwebs for a mention of this problem - all to no avail.

So I have decided to switch RSS reader (something, I guess that Shawn might not agree with), the question was which to choose. I could take the online route and go with Google Reader, or instead try the free Vienna (which I did). However I found that when paying for something you get quality insurance; so I went for News Fire.

As you can see from bellow the interface is quite different.

And to tell you the truth I prefer NNW - if only it didn’t crash. However that said I am enjoying using News Fire and I think once I stop seeing what News Fire doesn’t have and NNW doesn’t I’ll start to see it vis versa.

I’ll report back in future on how News Fire is shaping up. So, what RSS Reader do you use?

UPDATE: I switched back, in the end I didn’t get News Fire’s interface, and I’m happy to say the crashing problem is now on-existent in NNW.

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. You can also contact me. Thanks for visiting!

If you ever need support with NewsFire, you’ll find that he isn’t very nice. He takes a while to respond, and sometimes sends back rude replies.

I use NetNewsWire, for its syncing. When I’m not on my Mac, I can read my feeds at NewsGator.com, (either on another Mac, PC, or iPhone/iPod touch) then when I get back to my Mac, everything is all synced. I love it.
